Teaching Gallons Quarts Pints Cups. Learning to measure is great learning fun! The entire cube is a gallon, the quarters of it are quarts, and the halves of each quart are pints, and the halves of each pint are cups, making one cup equal to 1/16 of a gallon.
A gallon of milk split in fourths makes four quarts. There are 4 quarts in a gallon, 8 pints in a gallon, and 16 cups in one gallon. If only i had been taught this trick earlier!
It still takes a few minutes of mental visualization, but with this diagram in mind, you can easily figure out that there are four cups in a quart, 16 cups in a gallon, and so on.
